After a somewhat turbulent few years of transition the Georgia of today is a safe and peaceful country that is well worth a visit.  Travelling by SUV you will gain access to the countries wild nature and manmade wonders. Amongst these you will discover breathtaking mountain peaks, crystal clear lakes, verdant valleys, and ancient castles to name but a few hotspots. Day 1 - Welcome to Georgia.


The group meets early in the capital Tibilisi. After a safety briefing and an introduction to the friendly guides we start our Convoy to the lower Caucasus Mountains through local villages of Armenian Descent.  We stop to rest, stretch our legs and have lunch at Lake Tsalka.  At the famous Georgian Lake Tabachkuri we take an inspiring walk taking in the air and atmospheric views.  Across towering volcanic peaks on one side and grazing land of Azerbaijan on the other we tour the hillsides and valleys off-road.  Then back to the comfort of our hotel in the skiing town of Bakuriani.

Day 2 - Southbound to Vardzia "the cave city"

Ahal-Khalaki is our first stop today.  Through back country and the Dry Bones road which boasts a huge volcanic plateau.  Stop off at the cave city of Vardzia to walk and explore this eerie place.  After lunch back to the jeeps and on to the next destination Borjomi.  The second part of the day we travel alongside the Mtkvari river.  A quick stop in the natural spring town of Borjomi and back to the hotel in Bakuriani to eat well for the next days adventures.

Day 3 - Through Borjomi.

Driving through Borjomi you can see the beauty of this well kept nature reserve with its forest air and blankets of pine trees.  We head 4x4 style through the mountains using picturesque routes and testing the jeeps on windy inclines.  After a day of rich views and nature at its best we spend the night in the Kutaisi hotel.

Day 4 - Enguri River & snow filled peaks of the Caucasus.

A morning drive along the beautiful Georgian plains starts the day towards Zugdidi "the Hill".  Here we stop and visit a Jewish Synagogue in Kolasi with a difference as its maintained by Christians this represents the special relationship between them and the Georgian Jews.  Along side the flowing Enguri River with its frothing rapids we aim for Mestia passing dams and picturesque houses towards this stunning town with medieval monuments, churches and forts.


Day 5 - The foot of Mount Ushba to the heights of Georgia.

Opening this day with an impressive glacier walk followed by a stop off at a local's house to experience first hand the typical lifestyle of this places isolated residents.  Circling back towards the Enguri River again taking in the captivating views from every side until hitting Ushguli which holds the most traditional people because of the remoteness and also the most scenic as it is the highest village in Europe.  After jaw dropping views and a tour we will meet our local host for the night and settle down to rest in a locals house.


Day 6 - The outback of Georgia.

Today is a very scenic and long day of driving. We head out early after a breakfast with the local. After which we climb higher than 2300m above sea level to take in the abundance of fresh crisp air and focal delights.  Today were are situated high in the ranges with virtualy no one around this serene setting. By early evening we meet our local host for the night and settle down to rest in their house.


Day 7 - Gori the birthplace of Stalin.

Gori is our first stop the birthplace of Stalin.  This town boasts this fact by the numerous statues, street names and squares after this famous leader.  We follow charming rivers then through infamous military roads as used by the Russian army during the war this takes us too the eye opening skiing town of Bakuriani 2000m above sea level.  This will be our home for the next two nights.

Day 8 - Exploring the higher Caucasus.

The highest range in the region is where we head to today.  From here you can see the highest peaks in the Caucasus Range.  Off-road we travel through the spectacular Teruso Canyon and arrive at natural mineral travertine spring.  An intimate lunch of delicacies is hard earned from all our off-road.  After our food has settled we advance upwards to the famous Chminda Sameba church.  Rest for the night and enjoy our final evening in Georgia.

Day 9 - Back to reality.

Today we say goodbye to the Causacus.  Back through the military made paths south we stop at Anna Nuri Church located next to Jinvali Lake.  We enter and marvel at the stunning architecture.  Lunch at the City gates and we use the remaining hours before the flight to recognize the Georgian Capital to shop or do whatever you want to do prior to flying.  We debrief and say our goodbyes to friends old and new.
