| Day 1 - The beating heart of Turkey. |
We’ll meet early morning in Istanbul and set out together on our adventure. Crossing the two great bridges that span the Bosphorus. We won’t pass up the opportunity for a boat ride there, which will afford us a panoramic view of the European and Asian sides of this bustling city. We’ll continue on to a few more sights including the Galata Tower then after checking in to our 4/5-star hotel we’ll head for the city’s main streets. From elegant Istiklal Street to the bridges over the Golden Horn. There we’ll see Istanbul from yet another vantage point. We’ll complete our first day with an authentic Turkish meal at one of the city’s outstanding restaurants.
| Day 2 - Onto the fairytale land. |
We’ll fly to Kaiseri and from there drive to Cappadocia along a road that gradually reveals the strange and wondrous landscape of this fairytale land. We’ll settle in at our hotel, then set out on a bike ride in the Goreme Valley. Under cliffs, past caves and bizarre tufa rock formations, we’ll learn about the geological processes that created this landscape. We’ll also learn about the culture of the caves’ ancient inhabitants. We’ll ride our bikes through the colourful markets of Cappadocia, and end the day at one of the area’s caves for an evening of folklore, culminating in a festive dinner and a belly dancing show.
| Day 3 - The sky is the limit. |
We’ll rise at dawn and head for the hot-air balloon launching pad. Nothing quite beats flying over Cappadocia in a hot air balloon. The majestic, bird’s eye view and the silent sweep of the balloon across the still skies reveal the region’s beauty like nothing else. After our heavenly adventure, we’ll climb down to the underground city of Derinkuyu. From there we’ll continue to Pali Valley, the so-called “Love Valley”, one of the most impressive in Cappadocia. The tufa cones here are amongst the tallest in the area, and their strange shape leads the imagination wild.
| Day 4 - The sacred wisdom of Istanbul. |
We’ll fly back to Istanbul from Kaiseri. Once on land, we’ll explore these timeless sites: the Hagia Sophia Church, the breathtaking Sultanahment or “Blue” Mosque; and the popular souqs. After some free time to wander the Grand Bazaar, we’ll meet up for a celebratory dinner at one of the city’s food emporiums, where we’ll be served the finest of the city’s specialties.
Just before departing, we’ll get in one last tour of the city, then head to the airport with bags full of remarkable memories.
