| Day 1 - To the slopes of the Carpathians. |
We meet early in the morning in Bucharest, board the jeeps and head north on the highway till we hit the vast plains of the Wallachia province. We reach the Ploiesti which is the gateway to huge valleys. Here we turn off the main roads and start climbing the ridges of this magnificent land. Lake Pestera is found through local villages and up through huge dense forests this lake is surrounded by towering wooded peaks. Dependant on the weather we shall follow the flow of the lakes to the valley of Prahubah taking in all the amazing scenery then onto checking into our hotel for the evening then taking a stroll around the local town smapling its cafes and shops scattered throughout the main street.
| Day 2 - Tour of Transylvania and Sighisoara. |
We will devote day two to crossing the Carpathian pass. Reaching Transylvania immediately we can determine the difference in the style and shape of the construction of its houses in all its villages, woods and meadows of eye catching beauty. Eat dinner at a local's house to taste the delicacies and sample the local handiwork and atmosphere of these skilled people. Sighisoara is the next stop Here we meet the mayor and learn all about the towns eerie history and old folklore. We see the famous buildings of the famed Dracula after this experience we retire and spend the night in a hotel in the Old City.
| Day 3 - Back through the Carpathians - Visit Brasov and Fiona. |
We separate from Sighisoara and head east till we reach the gypsy neighborhood San Agustin and tour its impressive fortified church. The late afternoons consists of spending precious time in Brasov. Visit the Black Church and squeezing down the narrowest street in Europe, here we give you free time to get disorientated in the busy alley ways, galleries and shops. Apoina Brasov is our hotel location for the next 2 evenings we eat, relax and recharge for the next few days adventures.
| Day 4 - The quiet vastness of the canyons. |
Today we climb the ridges above the town of Bran and unsaddle to walk among the picturesque villages scattered with wooden houses, quant farmland with smells of fresh hay being cultivated by the locals and rich green forested area. The group heads for a narrow canyon by foot passing the giant lumber cultivations and streams. This is a completely different experience to the hustle and bustle from the previous day. Stay the last night in the comfort of our hotel in Brasov.
| Day 5 - Palace Flesch, Caucsko and farewell to Romania. |
The start of today Is one of the highlights of our tour of the Carpathians. We visit a project of one brave woman who saved and holds 51 brown bears in captivity. We meet the bears up close and hear the amazing story of the establishment of this place. Back across the Capathian Mountain range once more to see glorious observations and inspiring focal views before heading downwards back to Bucharest to return the jeeps and say our goodbyes to this captivating place.
