Group together and start the first of many self drive ventures. We head to the foot of the Atlas Mountains first stopping in Ifrane famous for its Alp like properties and hosting some amazing local wildlife including the threatened Barbary Macaque Monkey. After Walking through the pasture town we head for Melilla a town which inhabitants are mainly of Spanish origin. We arrive at our luxurious hotel Bne Mallal for a night of pampering and wonderful foods.
Day 5 - We greet the jeeps and head off road into the Atlas's.
Once briefed on the jeeps and we start our engines and Head towards the grand Atlas Range. We visit a Village 2200m into the Atlas's that's inhabitants are completely of Barbarian origin and have never left their small cultural village. This is a true taste of the mountain people. Here we shall stay for the evening in basic local family run accommodation and to experience the ways of this particular group of special people.
Day 6 - Dada's Canyon SUV experience.
More alpine lakes are the focal point as we climb higher and higher into the Atlas today. We visit Dades Valley and with our 4x4's are able to see the best views as we rise above the normal tour paths and peak at a focal point with breathtaking views. A small village is our home for the evening filled with clay houses and local foods like no other.
Day 7 - Dada's Valley to the towering peaks above.
We emerge from Dades Valley and continue on through a mountain pass parallel with the Atlas till we reach Jebel Saharo which is part of the more widely know Sahara Desert. We cross Jebel Saharo till we reach Tizi n Tazazert which is a pass at the highest 2313m high we stop to sample the jagged peaks of this wondrous place. Traveling to the next valley we pass orchards and spruce fields then a quick stop in K'nob hidden in the Dades valley, before heading to the town of Zagora for a nights rest.
Today we awake to the thrill of knowing that the Sahara awaits us. We advance across the vast canvas of sand in our jeeps and beyond the distance we come to visit desert dwelling nomadic tribes "the Tuareg people". No matter your background you will be shocked culturally when learning how these people live in such climates and surroundings. We do a tour of the secluded dunes and spot wildlife and learn about the desert. We spend the night at a resting point and sleep under the sea of stars.
Day 9 - Sunrise in the Sahara - Climbing the Anti-Atlas's
Before dawn we wake up early to view one of the most glorious sunrises ever, The Sahara desert Sunrise. After this we set off to the Iraqi salty sea town called Pom Zeigweed for a quick stop. We climb channels between the Anti Atlas mountains central range and onto Ouarzazate for a spoiling night in a lush hotel.
Day 10 - The road back to Marrakech.
We leave Ouarzazate and drive with the Atlas accompanying us along the way. Arriving atAit Benhaddou we scour the maze alleys of its Kasbahs. In the afternoon we ascend the Vadi Melach until we reach Tiluwate for a tour of an old time Palace. Snaking through a winding road we cut back across the Atlas's through Teizne Titichica. We decline the passes back to Marrakech and book into our next hotel. Afterwards we head back out to a local square "Jama el Panna" for shopping and exploring.
Day 11 - Quality time in the Capital.
Marrakech deserves a comprehensive tour so that is exactly what we give it today. We meet firstly at the tower Habahava and sample the views followed by a synagogue visit in Medina. Then we set you free to browse this city at will. Relax at a coffee house or shop till you drop meeting back at the hotel for another night of luxury.
Day 12 - It's hard to say goodbye.
The plan for today depends on the flight time homeward bound. We will cruise the highway to Casablanca on the Atlantic coast and time permitting do some tours of the largest mosque in Morocco amongst other places of interest in this stunning city. We say a hard goodbye and head to the airport.
